Fedor Emelianenko To Make MMA Return In Japan On New Year’s Eve On Spike TV

At Saturday’s first-ever Bellator MMA and GLORY Kickboxing co-promoted “Dynamite 1” event on Spike TV, a very special announcement was made regarding New Year’s Eve.

On hand at the Dynamite 1 event on Saturday was none other than former PRIDE president Nobuyuki Sakikibara, who announced his return to the MMA scene, and introduced the very special announcement of the evening — the return of “The Last Emporer.”

It has been rumored for weeks, and now it is official — MMA legend Fedor Emelianenko will return to action on New Year’s Eve, as he fights an opponent yet to be named at Dynamite 2.

Regarding the announcement, Spike TV president Kevin Kay said, “We are thrilled to join forces with Nobuyuki Sakakibara and our partner Bellator President Scott Coker to give MMA fans a big reason to celebrate this New Year’s Eve – Fedor fighting FREE on Spike!”

Additionally, according to veteran MMA journalist Ariel Helwani, Fedor’s deal is a two-fight deal, exclusively with Nobuyuki Sakikibara, who is also rumored to be courting MMA legend Kazushi Sakuraba, as well as Kron Gracie.

It’s also worth noting that Fedor’s fights will be contested inside a ring, not a cage.

Dynamite 2 will emanate from Tokyo, Japan, live on New Year’s Eve, airing live and free on Spike TV.
