Heavy Pro Wrestling Influence At Bellator 138: Unfinished Business Event

At Friday’s Bellator 138: Unfinished Business event in St. Louis, Missouri, there were a lot more pro wrestling references than one might have noticed.

The most obvious, of course, was the fact that Ken Shamrock (a former WWE Superstar) and Bobby Lashley (a former WWE and TNA Superstar) were involved in two of the top three matches on the main televised portion of the show.

Many noticed WWE Hall Of Famer Road Warrior Animal (Joe Laurinaitis) came out in full “Legion of Doom / Road Warrior” attire, complete with the face paint and spiked shoulder pads, as part of Shamrock’s ring entrance for his main event bout against Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson.

There were also a couple of subtle pro wrestling references, as Lashley wore a TNA Impact Wrestling baseball cap during his post-fight interview (as pictured above, courtesy of Sherdog.com) after defeating late-replacement opponent Dan Charles on the third-from-the-top match of the evening.

Finally, in the most subtle reference of the evening, Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal, who was in attendance at the show, wore a Young Bucks t-shirt, a piece of merchandise that represents a very popular independent wrestling tag-team act that often works New Japan Pro Wrestling shows in Japan.
