Jon Fitch Fails Pre-Fight Drug Test For WSOF 16 Bout With Rousimar Palhares

Former UFC title contender Jon Fitch failed a pre-fight drug test taken prior to his World Series of Fighting 16 bout against Rousimar Palhares.

California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) Executive Officer Andy Foster confirmed the news on Friday.

WSOF 16 emanates from the McClellan Conference Center in Sacramento, California on Decembet 13th. Fitch lost to Palhares via kneebar submission at 90 seconds into the first round.

Foster noted that the CSAC received the initial results from Fitch’s urine sample on January 15th. At that point, a carbon isotope ratio (CIR) test was performed on the sample, however the commission did not receive confirmation of the result until February 4th.

While the specifics of what Fitch tested positive for have yet to be revealed, a report by MMAJunkie.com claims he tested positive for elevated levels of testosterone.

Fitch will reportedly receive the maximum fine of $2,500, as well as a nine-month suspension.
