Things have escalated quickly between Kelvin Gastelum and Conor McGregor.
Gastelum was supposed to challenge Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight title holder Robert Whittaker for the gold this past Saturday night (Feb. 9). The bout would’ve headlined UFC 234 inside the Rod Laver Arena in Melborune, Australia. Whittaker was pulled from the card after suffering a hernia in his abdomen. He had to undergo emergency surgery, but is expected to be back training in a few weeks.
Gastelum Hurls Nasty Dig At McGregor
Gastelum attended UFC 234 carrying a title on his shoulder claiming to be the real 185-pound champion. McGregor called Gastelum a worm for the shtick. Gastelum dared the “Notorious” one to take the belt off him. During an appearance on ESPN’s Ariel Helwani MMA Show, Gastelum unleashed a scathing dig at McGregor (via MMAJunkie.com):
“Oh my god, you want to talk about a leper? A guy that’s full of disease that’s spreading disease all over Ireland? That’s Conor McGregor. He’s spreading his seed all over Ireland, impregnating ladies and not claiming them. That dude’s a leper. Forget him.”
Gastelum’s dig has to do with a woman claiming that McGregor is the father to her child. The woman also told the Irish Mirror that her fling with McGregor took place while the former UFC lightweight champion’s girlfriend was pregnant. The report also claimed McGregor is willing to take a DNA test to prove he isn’t the father.
