Levens to fight Ento for PFC middleweight title
LEMOORE, Ca. — Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino Entertainment Director Christian Printup couldn’t tell you who the main event is going to be at Palace Fighting Championship 4 on Oct. 18th.
“There’s not one fight that stands out as a main event,” said Printup of the “Project Complete” card that will be held at the Palace’s Bingo Hall.
The card will rival that of any that has played out in Central California, including 23 World Extreme Cagefighting shows that were held at the Palace.
“This card is loaded from top to bottom. The opening fight at PFC 4 would main event some of these other local small shows throughout the state,” Printup said. “We are raising the bar every time out.”
That case was certainly bolstered on Tuesday, Aug. 14th when Printup and the PFC announced that Newport Beach middleweight Justin Levens (9-6) will fight Hanford’s Kenny Ento (8-2) for the vacant PFC World Middleweight Championship.
“These are two of the most popular and intense fighters to ever compete in the Valley,” Printup said. “Levens has faced tougher competition, but Ento is an extremely tough match up. He’s tall, rangy, has excellent submissions and underrated stand up. Levens is an absolute animal, who has only lost to top-level fighters.”
The Levens vs. Ento bout is one of four title fights on the loaded 14-bout show.
“I think this fight is good for the area. I love fighting up there and always have a good time,” said Levens, who is a Central Valley fan favorite. “He is a local guy and the crowd likes him, too. I think it will be a good fight. I think I will KO him pretty fast, though.”
Ento isn’t making any predictions.
“I’m pretty happy to be fighting for a belt. Some one has to be the best in the division and why not it be me,” Ento said. “I’m not the type of guy to make any predictions for my fights. He’s just another guy to fight. I remember way back people would think if they scheduled you to fight Levens, they were throwing you to the wolves. I thought that I could compete with him then and I still think I can compete with him now.”
Levens has lost three straight fights in the International Fight League, but is looking to make a comeback in the PFC since signing a 3-fight deal. He is also an Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran.
“I feel fine. For the past couple years I have been fighting with my own demons. I am finally back to my old self and motivated as hell,” Levens said. “Right now I’m in Big Bear training a lot of cardio, stand up and ground. It is a good camp and my new team is CSW with trainers Josh Barnett and Eric Paulson. It is a very good camp and lot of good guys.”
PFC lightweight champion Shad Smith of San Bernardino will put is 9-7-2 record and title on the line against Lemoore standout Poppies “Tachi Kid” Martinez (11-3-1).
Hanford’s Chris Botelho (5-1) will take on Porterville’s Morris Aldaco (6-0) for the vacant welterweight title and North Hollywood’s Lodune Sincaid (10-4) will fight Sacramento’s Jeremy Freitag (5-5) for the vacant light heavyweight crown.
The card only adds depth with a veteran welterweight match up between Ensenada, Mexico’s Olaf Alfonso (5-7) and Hesperia’s Thomas Denny (22-15) and UFC vet Scott Smith (11-4) of Elk Grove takes on middleweight Nate Loughran (5-0).
Also on the card are highly anticipated debuts of Hanford’s Luis Gonzalez and Hanford’s Jeremy Luchau.
Gonzalez will battle Jesse Bowen (1-3) in a featherweight bout and Luchau will fight Fresno lightweight Shahob Nasrabadi (0-2).
Fresno featherweight Jorge Evangelista (4-2-1) will make his long awaited return to MMA action after a 2-year layoff against rugged Albuquerque, New Mexico veteran Ed Tomaselli (3-4) and Merced middleweight Phil Collins (4-3) takes on Visalia’s Marc De La Cruz (2-1).
Also in action is Fresno lightweight Casey Olson (5-1), Las Vegas light heavyweight Dewey Cooper (1-0), Sacramento light heavyweight Mark Munoz (1-0) and Parlier middleweight Mike Moreno (2-1).
