Manny Pacquiao Enters MMA Scene With Purchase Of ONE FC Shares

Boxing mega-star Manny Pacquiao has entered the world of mixed-martial arts.

The multi-division boxing champion announced the purchase an undisclosed amount of shares in the Asian-based ONE FC promotion, which is home to such fighters as Ben Askren, Shinya Aoki and Melvin Manhoef.

ONE FC executive Victor Cui spoke to Yahoo! Sports about Pacman entering into business with the promotion. “I’m pretty pumped,” said Cui. “There are a ton of reasons why I’m pretty excited about this. Obviously, Manny Pacquiao is a global sports icon and having him as a part of our organization as a shareholder and promoting One FC and promoting the sport is huge for the sport in the region. It promotes awareness and growth.”

Cui also announced that Pacquiao may take part in an upcoming ONE FC press conference in Manilla to promote an upcoming fight card.

As far as the “sweet science” is concerned, Pacquiao is scheduled to return to the ring on November 22, as he defends his WBO Welterweight Championship against Chris Aligeri at The Venetian in Macau, China, just a few months after UFC holds their “Fight Night Macau” event with Michael Bisping vs. Cung Le on August 23.
