Former UFC Welterweight champion Matt Hughes recently found out test results showing that he has a partially torn MCL and PCL. Matt dropped the news via his blog.
I found out my results, I’ve got a totally torn MCL that is still attached to my femur. I’ve got a partially torn PCL. They really think that the PCL will repair itself and that MCL has a chance of repairing itself. So we’re going to hold off on surgery right now. I am going to get a second opinion this week, so that might change; but for now we’re going to hold off on surgery.
Got more news to come this week, so there will be another blog entry the middle of the week. -matt
When Hughes does return to action he has been adament about the fact that he wants to fight Matt Serra next before any other fight. Hughes has talked retirement in the past and after a long successful career, it appears the former champs body just might be wearing down on him. Time will only tell how many more fights Hughes has left in him but the Hughes/Serra fight is a fight that has to happen. That story must have an ending.
