McGregor On Diaz/UFC 196 Presser Incident: “Diaz’s Wrist Will Never Be The Same”

By now everyone has seen the wrist-slap heard-round the world from Thursday’s UFC 196 pre-fight press conference. Not as widespread yet, however, is the split-screen media interviews that Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz took part in immediately after the press conference skirmish.

Shortly after their near-brawl at the second UFC 196 pre-fight press conference designed to promote Saturday’s McGregor-Diaz bout, which saw McGregor slap Diaz’s wrist away after Diaz’s fist got extremely close to McGregor’s face, the two headliners for this weekend’s pay-per-view made some joint media rounds and gave their respective versions of what happened on Thursday afternoon in Las Vegas.

“The man was afraid to look me dead in the eye,” said McGregor. “So he put a frame out in front of him and I quickly snatched it and broke his wrist.”

Diaz, in typical Diaz-brothers fashion, gave a modified version of their infamous “Don’t Be Scared, Homie!” catchphrase.

“Yeah, you got a scared little [expletive] shot on the hand and [expletive],” said the Stockton native.

Never one to be out-done in a war of words, and thus far, out-done in a war of physicality inside the Octagon, McGregor landed the verbal-KO-blow in response.

“The medics are in with him now,” McGregor quipped. “His wrist will never be the same. Like his bum knee, like his bum leg.”
