N.Y. Assembly Speaker Opposed To MMA Arrested On Public Corruption Charges

One of MMA’s biggest public opponents in the state of New York, N.Y. Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, was taken into custody by the F.B.I. on Thursday morning and is expected to be charged with public corruption charges.

Silver has been one of the biggest obstacles standing in the way of MMA being legalized in the state of New York.

The new legislative session has started and Silver recently shared the stage with Governor Andrew Cuomo at the State of the State Address.

Silver was first elected to the Assembly in 1976 and is one of the most influential people in the New York state government due to his title and experience. Whether or not this situation will help speed along the process of MMA being legalized in New York remains to be seen.
