The newest addition to the Bellator roster, Paul “Semtex” Daley recently announced his future intentions with the company during an appearance on “The MMA Hour” this past Monday at MMAFighting.com.
Daley made it clear that he is going directly after Bellator Welterweight Champion Douglas Lima, but acknowledged that he expects to have to win a contender’s match first.
“I think I’m going to get a tough first fight, beat that person, and then I think I’ll be in a position to fight Douglas Lima,” Daley told MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani on Monday. “That’s not contracted, that’s not been discussed or anything. But the way I see it, coming back to Bellator, I think a big win over one of their bigger welterweight stars and then I’ll be challenging Douglas Lima for the belt.”
Lima, who won the title with a second-round technical knockout of Rick Hawn in April, welcomes a bout with Daley, but must first defend his title against the winner of the July 25th bout between Andrey Koreshkov and Adam McDonnough at Bellator 122.
“I’m ready whenever he is,” Lima said in regards to Daley’s challenge. “I will fight whoever [Bellator] wants, no problem at all. It’s going to be a good fight.”
