Two-division Bellator champion Patricio “Pitbull” Freire would like the opportunity to prove that he is the best featherweight in the world by defeating the man who is arguably the featherweight GOAT: Max “Blessed” Holloway.
Patricio Pitbull is one of the proudest members of the Bellator roster and rightfully so. After all, Pitbull holds two different championship belts in the promotion and has been waving the Bellator banner for over a decade now. As such a staunch defender of his brand, he is sure to speak up in defense or in celebration of the promotion or of himself as one of its chief ambassadors.

Recently, Pitbull took pride in former Bellator lightweight champion Michael Chandler knocking out Dan Hooker in his UFC debut. He believed that this victory demonstrated the strength of Bellator. But what would be an even stronger representation is if a current Bellator champion defeated a current UFC champion in a cross-promotional blockbuster.
“I definitely want to have a shot at those guys – especially the ones that people say I can’t beat or that would beat me easily,” Freire recently told MMA Junkie. “It’s not that the UFC interests me most, actually. I’d like to create history, something new in the sport – to create a big cross-promotion, like in boxing (where) you have the champions sometimes fighting each other. That’s what we’re missing in MMA right now. I’d like to be the guy to start that.”
Patricio Pitbull Gets Specific On Who He’d Like To Face From UFC
Speaking for himself, Patricio Pitbull would love to have a crack at somebody who may not be currently listed as a UFC champion but who many believe is the uncrowned champ of the UFC’s featherweight division and the man who also holds the most wins in the division: Max Holloway. And maybe it wouldn’t even have to be a cross-promotional bout in order for it to happen.
“(The future) belongs to God,” Freire continued. “We’ll see what’s next. Maybe Max Holloway gets tired of making pennies in the UFC and comes to Bellator so we can make a huge stadium show in Hawaii. We could see a change from the top guys from the UFC (coming) to Bellator.
“If they don’t think there is money here, that’s a lie. Bellator would be willing to pay for those who deserve it.”
