The former street brawler-slash needle-mover — Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson — has reportedly signed with Bellator MMA, an announcement of which is expected to be made during the Bellator 132 telecast on Friday, January 16th on Spike TV.
When MMANews.com spoke to Scott Coker back in October, he outright said that while Bellator had spoke to Kimbo, he heard he was retired and not interested, mentioning specifically that he had talked to him about joining the promotion.
“You know, I think we talked to him about his interest in helping us out to promote and we talked about him fighting some of the fighters,” said Coker in the video interview with MMANews.com. “You know, maybe him and James Thompson, or him and some other fighters, but yeah, there was those conversations made, but I think he’s retired, so I’ll move on from that.”
Coker concluded, “I don’t know, I just heard that he wasn’t interested.”
Well, obviously if the rumors are true, something has changed. Or, Coker has one hell of a poker face. Either way, tonight’s Bellator MMA event just got a little more street cred, and a lot more interesting.
Make sure to visit MMANews.com later this evening for complete Bellator 132 results and updates on the status of Kimbo Slice.
