In late August, Travis Browne’s estranged wife started posting on social media that her husband was seeing his teammate, Ronda Rousey, and blasted the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion for dating a married man. Today, in an interview on Ariel Helwani’s “MMA Hour,” Browne confirmed that he and Rousey are in a relationship, saying that “Dating is for children. Dating is for kids. Over the summer, through all the sh*t that I had to shuffle through, that I had to sift through, Ronda and I started talking throughout the summer and I’ll say now that we are together. She’s my woman and I’m her man. There’s no boyfriend, girlfriend stuff. There’s no dating. We’re together.”
This all heated up in the first place because Browne’s wife, Jenna Renee Webb, had accused Browne of beating her. After initially just posting photos on Instagram showing her bruised up, she said that “Travis” was responsible. The UFC suspended Browne, and that was rescinded after their own internal investigation. Webb has promised to pursue criminal charges after how the UFC investigation turned out, with the announcement of no punishment for Browne coming right as the talk of a Rousey/Browne relationship was heating up. Browne says he’s been separated from Webb since June, a few weeks before she made her allegations.
As f0r Rousey, it seemed like Browne was trying to stress that their relationship is just something that happened, so to speak.
Not once did we ever think about this. It wasn’t even a thought that went through our heads at all. So I’ve gotten to know her through the gym, through all that kind of stuff. I see her for who she is. The fact that she’s out there winning ESPYS and the star she is on the movie screen and all that kind of stuff, that’s all great. But that’s not who I know her as, if that makes sense. I know her as one of the hardest working athletes that I’ve ever seen, in this gym busting her butt on a daily basis. And through our own personal experiences of how compassionate and really how much of a sweetheart she really is. That’s what a lot of people don’t see out of her. They see that, but they don’t really get to experience that.
Rousey had previously been linked to Brendan Schaub, who Browne stopped in his last UFC win back in December. at UFC 181. He’s been critical of Rousey dating an accused domstic abuser in light of her comments about Floyd Mayweather.
