Rumor: Kimbo Slice Vs. Sean Gannon Rematch To Happen On CBS

According to Josh Gross with SI.com, the potential list of opponents for Kimbo Slice on October 4th when EliteXC returns to CBS is narrowing down.

According to Gross the proposed match-up between Brett Rogers and Kimbo is being put on hold by EliteXC execs out of fear of Kimbo losing this fight and his marketability going down the toilet when they need him the most. Kimbo is a huge draw for the company and with rumors of them having money issues, EXC can not afford to have Kimbo lose.

Another proposed match-up would have seen legend Ken Shamrock face off against Slice, but as we here at MMANEws.com reported earlier this week, Shamrock has other things on his mind right now in terms of different fights and a deal could not be worked out to make the Kimbo/Shamrock fight happen.

The most interesting news from the Sports Illustrated article was the the most likely opponent for Kimbo at this point is none other than the only man to beat him in a street fight, Sean Gannon.

The fans of Kimbo who know him mostly from his YouTube street fights would know of the first fight between Gannon and Slice, which if you haven't seen can be watched by clicking HERE.

While this fight may have drawing power, it somewhat takes Mixed Martial Arts in the wrong direction in terms of what it is all about. Having Gannon and Kimbo meet up again could be a stand up and bang it out war, but it really isn't MMA, it is a rematch of a streetfight only this time in a cage and being broadcast during a Primetime TV slot.
