Followinng the controversy from WSOF 22 this past Saturday in Las Vegas, Nevada, which saw Rousimar Palhares crank a kimura on Jake Shields well after Shields had tapped, several MMA fighters are rallying in an attempt to get Palhares banned for life from MMA.
Palhares, who has a history of holding onto submissions longer than necessary, something that contributed to him being booted from the UFC roster, did what he is most known for once again this past Saturday night. For those who missed it, you can view video footage of the incident, which included Shields punching Palhares in the face after the fight, by clicking here.
Below are reactions from some well-known MMA fighters, many of which are calling for Palhares to be banned for life from MMA competition.
At this point of his career @ToquinhoMMA should be banned from MMA for life. Cheater at every opportunity. Major officiating error. #WSOF

The 6th time Palhares held a submission past the tap.
He should be banned, or at least given a lengthy suspension. pic.twitter.com/vLbo43DdTC— Cathal Pendred (@Pendred) August 2, 2015
Just watched shields vs Paul Harris finish last night.
Paul Harris again, tries to maim his opponent unnecessarily
Lifetime ban IMO— TJ Grant (@TJ_Grant) August 2, 2015
Not sure how any commission is licensing him at this point, let alone organizations promoting him. https://t.co/z5oeQpFO17

Man, I just keep thinking about what might of happened at the Sheilds fight if the Diaz bros hadn't been kicked out of the arena already.

This is uncalled for.. Not the first time he's held onto a submission while his opponent has tapped http://t.co/655afXkGZN
