The MMA Update for Wednesday June 13th, 2007
Written by Chris Howie
The day after an MMA event always has some of the best discussions on the web. Last nights Fight Night Live was an amazing show that has a lot of people talking. Lets get to the update.
Fight Night 10 Far Exceeds Expectations
On paper this card was far from impressive. It had the Stout/Fisher rematch that had some people excited but top to bottom it appeared lackluster. Boy was anyone who had a bad thing to say about this card wrong. EVERY fight that aired last night on Spike was great. From the start of the show with Drew McFedries huge KO of Jordan Radev to the main event rematch between Sam Stout and Spencer Fisher, it is hard to find anything bad. Jon Fitch had a tough go with Roan Carneiro but in the end pulled off the submission to win his fight. Thiago Tavares put on a very impressive display against Jason Black, subbing him in the second round. Tavares really showcased his skills as a well rounded fighter. In the main event Spencer Fisher outstruck world class kickboxer Sam Stout to win a unanimous decision vistory. Fisher brought it to Stout from the get go, landing crisp clean strikes from every angle to win all three rounds and the match. The rest of the cards results are as follows:
Nate Mohr def. Luke Caudillo via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) after 3 Rounds.
Anthony Johnson def. Chad Reinder via KO (punch) at 0:13 of Round 1.
Gleison Tibau def. Jeff Cox via Submission (armbar) at 1:52 of Round 1.
Tamdan McCrory def. Pete Spratt via Submission (triangle choke) at 2:04 of Round 2.
Forrest Petz def. Luigi Fioravanti via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) after 3 Rounds.
Thiago Tavares def. Jason Black via Submission (triangle choke) at 2:49 of Round 2.
Drew McFedries def. Jordan Radev via KO (punches) at 0:33 of Round 1.
Jon Fitch def. Roan Carneiro via Submission (rear naked choke) at 1:07 of Round 2.
Spencer Fisher def. Sam Stout via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) after 3 Rounds.
If you happened to miss this card I feel bad for you. If you get a chance to see the replay make sure to catch it, as it was by far one of the best cards put on in MMA this year.
This was about the biggest news from yesterday so make sure to check back tomorrow when I will get back to a full update.
