FABRICIO CAMOES VS. CAOL UNO
Round 1 – Who likes short shorts? Caol Uno does. He touches gloves with a better-covered Camoes, and we're underway with another lightweight bout. Comes strikes first with a face kick that snaps Uno awake. More slap than anything, but it sounded good. Uno closes the distance and pulls guard, and Camoes slaps on a choke as Uno gets to his feet. He lets go and fires a body kick as Uno stands. Camoes backs away and then comes in with a right hand that land. He then drags Uno to the mat and frees a leg into half guard. Camoes stands over his opponent and looks to dive. He does with a big right hand that just misses, and Uno gets to his feet. Camoes throws a right and misses, but he grabs Uno around the neck from behind and drags him to the mat and takes his back. Camoes gets his hooks in and looks for the rear-naked choke. It looks over, but Uno escapes and gets to his feet with a round of applause. The fighters return to the center of the cage, and Camoes looks a bit winded. After a clinch, Camoes goes high with a knee to the body, and Uno simply shoves him to the mat and into the cage. Uno works from the top as Camoes is trapped against the fence in a seated position. Camoes ties up his oponent to avoid damage, but Uno finally creats some separation and delivers a flurry of forearms and hammerfists before Camoes ties him up again. Camoes waits out the round from the position. It's a close one with camoes winning the first part and Uno the second part. MMAjunkie.com scores it 10-9 for Camoes largely on the near-successful submission attempt.
Round 2 – Uno lands a leg kick but is forced to retreat when Camoes backs him up with a punches and kicks to the leg. Camoes scores a big overhand right and then misses a trip but secures a slick suplex to take the fight to the mat. Uno, though, easily reverses the position, and the fight is halted when Camoes delivers a series of kicks to the head of his downed opponent. The ref issues a one-point deduction, but Uno is ready to continue from his top position. Uno gets careless and nearly gets caught in an armbar before breaking free of the hold. Camoes, though, isn't finished and looks for a leg, rolls over, nearly hits Uno again with an illegal kick and then gets to his feet. Once there, Camoes unloads some punches, and the crowd yells their approval. Camoes, though, closes the distance and takes the fight to the mat. Uno, though, easily reverses the position again. Camoes works the butterfly guard before moving to full guard and pulling Uno close. Uno looks to pass guard as Camoes looks to trap an arm. Neither succeeds, but Uno frees a leg. Camoes, though, negates all possible offense and pulls Uno close. Uno backs away, and the fighters return to their feet and trade knees from the clinch before the round sounds. It's a close round, but MMAjunkie.com scores it 10-9 for Uno (and 10-8 with the one-point deduction.)
Round 3 – The fighters trade leg kicks as we enter the final frame. Camoes noly misses on a combination, but Uno immediately charges back in for a punch to the body. But when he follows with a kick to the midsection, Camoes pops him with a right hand. Uno closes the distance and pushes Camoes into the cage, and Camoes looks to control his opponent's wrist. Camoes then lands a nice elbow to the temple on the break. Back to the center of the cage, Camoes checks a leg kick and knocks Uno off balance and onto his pooper. Uno then ducks under a right as he gets back to his feet. Both fighters smile at the exchange. After a clinch, Uno works for position and then takes Camoes to the mat. Working from guard, Uno can do little with the position as Camoes pulls him in tight. Uno frees a leg before Camoes pulls him back into full guard, and the pace slows. Uno finally stands a drop a right hand to the chest before diving back into guard. Camoes grabs a foot and torques Uno's leg, but he has to give it up when Uno moves into side control. He then moves into the north-south position and looks for the armbar. Camoes, though, sniffs it out and defends. Uno delivers a barrage of punchges as Camoes tries to get back to his feet to assure he takes the round. MMAjunkie.com scores it 10-9 for Uno, though this fight could very well be scored a draw.
