An emotional Tim Elliott talked with Megan Olivi Saturday night following his victory at UFC 219 over Mark De La Rosa.
Elliott, who won a season of The Ultimate Fighter to earn a shot at UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson, gave all the credit to his team for his performance vs. De La Rosa.
It was a tough situation for Elliott, as his coach, Robert Follis, recently passed away. Elliott honored him by going to a corner of the cage after his win and quietly sitting. James Krause, a fellow UFC fighter, cornered Elliott.
“My team has saved me a million times,” Elliott said.
The 31-year-old Elliott improved to 15-8-1 in his career with a second round submission victory via Anaconda choke. He is 2-2 since returning to the UFC last year.
