After dominating Lyoto Machida in a completely one-sided beat down at the UFC On FOX 15 event on Saturday evening, UFC Middleweight contender Luke Rockhold made it clear who he wants next.
After dominating the former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Machida with ease for the first five minutes of the fight, it took only two-and-a-half additional minutes for Rockhold to become the third man in UFC history to stop “The Dragon,” forcing the Brazilian legend to tap out to a rear-naked choke at the 2:31 mark of the second round.
When talking to UFC color-commentator Joe Rogan during his post-fight interview inside the Octagon, Rockhold made it clear what he wants to happen next.
Before a sold out crowd at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on Saturday, April 18th, Rockhold called out Weidman, telling him that he “did his part” in beating Machida, now Weidman “needs to do his,” referring to his upcoming UFC Middleweight title defense against Vitor Belfort in the co-main event of the UFC 187 pay-per-view, which is scheduled for Saturday, May 23rd at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Rockhold wasn’t done there.
The American Kickboxing Academy star made it clear that he wants to be part of history, defeating Weidman and becoming the new UFC Middleweight Champion in Weidman’s home state of New York, stating his desire to have the Rockhold-Weidman showdown take place at the world-famous Madison Square Garden arena in New York.
