Alistair Overeem believes he is up next for a shot at the UFC heavyweight title. In an interview with MMAjunkie.com, Overeem says the winner of his co-main event fight at UFC on FOX 17 against Junior Dos Santos will get a title shot, and that he will be victorious.
“I definitely believe that the winner of this fight has a claim to the UFC title,” Overeem said. “I’ve had a 1,000 different scenarios in my head of how it would go down, and they all differed. One thing was the same: I’m going to leave the octagon with my hand raised.”
Overeem has a record of 39-14-1 and has won three of his last five fights.
UFC on FOX 17 takes place in Orlando at the Amway Center on Saturday, December 19th. The event, which is the final of the year for UFC, will air on FOX, FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
