Aljamain Sterling Provides Major Update On His UFC Return

Aljamain Sterling is recovering and will be back training in full capacity soon.

The current UFC bantamweight champion Sterling recently provided a quick little update on his recovery process via his Twitter stating that he will back to training 100% on July 15th.

Back in March, after his controversial title win at UFC 259 against Petr Yan, “Funk Master” revealed that he was to undergo neck surgery which would keep him out up to nine months.

He successfully underwent the procedure in April where his neck was repaired with an artificial disk replacement, expressing that he longer felt numbing or any tingling pain and stated that from April 15th he was on a road to recovery.

Two months on from his ‘road to recovery,’ his recent update suggests that Sterling is now one month away from making a full recovery and back to training 100% with his long and trusted Serra-Longo Fight Team based in Long Island, New York.

Sterling is expected to make his title defence against former UFC bantamweight champion Petr Yan after their first contest ended in controversy. Yan started dominating the fight from the third round whilst Sterling seemed to wilt under the pressure as the fight went on. In the fourth round, Yan landed a huge knee to Sterling’s head whilst he was down which forced the referee to end the bout and disqualify Yan.

Do you think Sterling will be different in the rematch against Yan?
