When former UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva was hospitalized with lower back pain earlier this month, he thought his career might be over.
“The Spider” recently told Veja Rio that he thought for a moment that he was going to be paralyzed.
“I couldn’t move or feel my legs and feet,” said Silva. “I was scared. I had never experienced anything like that before.”
Silva continued, “I couldn’t believe when I felt that back pain. I thought I was going to be paralyzed.”
While the back issues seemed to have cleared up, Silva admitted that he still feels pain in his legs. However, “The Spider” claims that won’t stop him from kicking as hard as he can when he makes his long-awaited Octagon return against Nick Diaz at UFC 183 in January.
“I still feel pain in my leg, but I will kick with full force,” he said. “This is my ultimate test.”
