Brazilian MMA fighters often stick together, and the most famous Brazilian MMA fighter on the planet is making it clear that he’s rooting for Jose Aldo to beat Conor McGregor when they fight for the UFC Featherweight Championship later this year.
In talking to Brazilian MMA media outlet Combate this week, “The Spider” was asked for his thoughts on the Aldo-McGregor bout, and he wasn’t shy in showing favortism to his fellow countryman.
“Jose Aldo already said what we needed to hear,” said Silva. “We have the king, the prince and the joker. Enough said. I think (McGregor) is a cool guy, but Jose Aldo is way cooler than him. I’m Jose Aldo’s brother, I’m with Jose Aldo until I die. Beat him up a lot, Jose Aldo. Please, beat him up a lot.”
Silva continued, “You can’t compare. He doesn’t have a chance against Jose Aldo. How would he do this? Have you seen Aldo’s last fight? Do you think this kid will handle what that other kid (Mendes) handled against Aldo? Never.”
Silva makes his long-awaited Octagon return against Nick Diaz in the main event of UFC 183, which takes place this Saturday, January 31st at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
