Anderson Silva Will Not Be Competing In 2016 Olympics

Fans who were hoping to see UFC star Anderson Silva compete in the 2016 Olympics received some bad news today.

Silva, who intended on representing his home country of Brazil in taekwondo at the games next year, will not be competing after all.

Silva’s manager, Jorge Guimaraes, told Brazilian outlet PVT, “This issue of the Olympics has already been ruled out. Anderson will not participate in the Olympics.”

Silva is currently awaiting his hearing with the Nevada Athletic Commission regarding a pair of failed drug tests stemming from his UFC bout with Nick Diaz in January.

Guimaraes continued, “He is now waiting for the verdict of the Athletic Commission, which should be coming out soon. We are waiting, let’s see if there will be punishment and how long it will be. He has trained; Anderson is a guy who will not stop training. He is keeping active.”
