Cain Velasquez vs. Jon Jones Super Fight: Rockhold Says Jones Doesn’t Stand A Chance

When Jon Jones expressed interest in taking part in future MMA “super fights” under the UFC banner, talk immediately spread like wildfire throughout the MMA community.

While Fabricio Werdum, current interim UFC Heavyweight Champion, immediately accepted such a challenge, it was talk of a potential Jones vs. Cain Velasquez fight that garnered the biggest reaction among fans of the sport.

During a recent interview, Velasquez’s American Kickboxing Academy (A.K.A.) teammate, Luke Rockhold, was quick to point out his belief that if Jones and Velasquez were to fight one day, Jones “wouldn’t stand a chance.”

“Cain, just the storm that he can put on you, you can’t stop it,” said Rockhold. “I’ve trained with the guy. I’ve sparred with him so many times and when he wants to get after you, he’s going to get after you. You can only run away so long.”

Rockhold concluded, “Jon Jones doesn’t have the style to keep him off him. Cain is just a beast. He’ll bull his way right through him.”

Before any Jones-Velasquez super fight can take place, “Bones” must first get past another A.K.A. standout, as he defends his UFC Light Heavyweight Championship against Velasquez’s A.K.A. teammate, undefeated, top-ranked UFC Heavyweight contender, Daniel Cormier.

Jonens vs. Cormier headlines UFC 182, which takes place on January 3, 2015 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
