Chad Mendes On Conor McGregor: “I’m Gonna Whip His Ass Next”

Number one ranked UFC Featherweight contender Chad Mendes, who challenges Jose Aldo for the UFC Featherweight Championship for the second time this Saturday night in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, promises he’s going to shock the world.

“The goal is to go out there and surprise everybody.” Mendes said during his UFC 179 media scrum.

Mendes admitted that he had some holes in his game the first time he fought Aldo, but claims this time around he’s patched those up and has “upped his confidence.”

“I think the major improvements in my game have really upped my confidence. There were big holes in my game the first time we fought and there were areas that I wasn’t comfortable in,” said Mendes. “[It] makes it tough to be a champion when you are not comfortable in all areas.”

Regarding the presence of “The Notorious” Conor McGregor at Saturday’s pay-per-view, a man who has been stealing headlines all week long heading into the event, Mendes claims after he beats Aldo, he’s going to “whip that dude’s ass next.”

“It is not frustrating that he is going to be here. It is expected,” said Mendes. “The guy has a huge hype train. He is talking his way up to the top. He can sit there and watch – I am gonna get in there and win and then I’m gonna whip that dude’s a** next.”
