After he pulled out of this Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 76 main event against Dustin Poirier, Irish prospect Joseph Duffy found himself on the receiving end of a verbal assault from the interim featherweight champion of the UFC, “The Notorious” Conor McGregor.
McGregor offered to step in and fight Dustin Poirier, a man he already beat inside the Octagon, on short notice to save the fight card scheduled for Dublin, Ireland, McGregor’s home turf.
While the McGregor-Poirier fight will not be happening, as McGregor has a title unification bout against linear champion Jose Aldo on the books for December, that hasn’t stopped McGregor from mixing it up with the two men who were scheduled to headline the fight card in Ireland on Saturday.
As reported on Wednesday, McGregor stated the following, offering to take the fight on short notice.
“I will give peanut another crack at the King no sweat. I’ll take the gate. It’s my gate anyway. A cool 7. Cash. See you at the weigh ins.”
Since that initial tweet, “The Notorious” one has returned to social media with the following dig at Duffy, the last man to defeat McGregor.
“Must be that Canadian air,” McGregor said of Duffy, who trains at Montreal’s Tristar Gym. “It’s fresh as f*ck over here. Rock chins bred on this side.”
