Colby Covington took to Twitter to release an image of Rafael Dos Anjos’ “leaked emails” in a candidate for MMA trolling of the year.
Rafael Dos Anjos was spoken of as a candidate for one of the greatest lightweights of all time when he ruled over the 155-pound division. Following his defeat to Khabib “The Eagle” Nurmagomedov in April 2014, the Brazilian embarked on a five-fight blitz of the lightweight division’s best talent. Victories over Benson Henderson, Nate Diaz and Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone sandwiched a “Performance of the Night” win over then-champ Anthony “Showtime” Pettis to take the strap. Then Eddie Alvarez happened…and following that, Tony Ferguson.
Dos Anjos took the initiative to move to 170 pounds in order to resurrect his career, and since then, has found himself the target of a number of the welterweight division’s fighters. One such name is Colby Covington. The 29-year-old is 6-1 in the UFC, and sees Dos Anjos as a victory over “RDA” as the ticket to ascending up the rankings in one of the promotion’s most competitive divisions. Like most fighters these days, Twitter appears to be the platform of choice when calling out opponents, and “Chaos” is no different:
@RdosAnjosMMA your on a 2 fight losing streak at a lower weight class. You ain't jumping to front of 170 ahead of me without a fight ??

hey man, I had to google your name to know how you are. Keep begging.

Covington took the time to deliver an elaborate joke via Twitter to Dos Anjos, which, in jocular fashion, shows a fake email account purported to belong to the Brazilian. Conor McGregor, Urijah Faber, USADA, Dana White and…”Mom” are all listed in the fighter’s (fake) inbox:
Looks like the little diva @RdosAnjosMMA left his email open in an Apple Store. pic.twitter.com/I0r2e1fNZp

Very funny indeed, but unlikely to be enough to get Dos Anjos into the octagon.
