Despite the fact that for the longest time the two top-tier “Team Alpha Male” fighters said that they would never fight each other, it’s becoming more and come clear as time goes on that a potential showdown between two of Sacramento, California’s favorite fighting sons, Urijah Faber and T.J. Dillashaw, could very well share the Octagon in the future.
During Wednesday’s edition of “UFC Tonight” on FOX Sports 1, UFC President Dana White spoke about a potential Faber-Dillashaw bout.
“That’s possible,” White said. “Those guys have made it very clear that they will fight each other. We’ll see what happens.”
White continued, “That’s not the plan right now here today, but it’s definitely a fight I’d like to see.”
As far as who those two veteran MMA standouts will be fighting next, while nothing is set in stone at this point, there are strong rumors going around as to who each man will share the Octagon with next.
In the case of Dillashaw, the current UFC Bantamweight Champion, it looks as though he may be defending his title in a rematch against Renan Barao, the man he won the title from in the first place, now that the other top contenders in the division, Dominick Cruz and Raphael Assuncao, are currently on the sidelines with injuries.
When it comes to “The California Kid’s” next opponent, there has been a lot of talk about a rematch between Faber and his most recent opponent, Francisco Rivera, due to the fact that their last bout ended in controversy, as Faber picked up the win after an unfortunate eye-poke led to Faber tapping out the highly regarded Bantamweight contender.
