While UFC President Dana White is usually the first to sing the praises of respected veteran referee Herb Dean, he couldn’t help but question a critical decision he made in the final round of the TUF 22 Finale fight between Ryan Hall and Artem Lobov on Friday evening.
At the post-fight press conference after Friday’s TUF 22 Finale event, White spoke about Herb Dean’s decision to allow Hall to ride Lobov’s back for such a long time without doing any damage or advancing his position.
“I’ll tell you what, if any of you saw what I tweeted at the end of the night, what drove me crazy was that Herb Dean let him stay on his back for the last three minutes standing,” White said in the post-fight press conference at the Cosmopolitan. “No damage was being done. Nobody was really advancing their position. And this is for everything — this is for The Ultimate Fighter.”
The UFC boss continued, “Stand them back up and…Herb I think is one of the best,” White said. “I don’t think he did his best tonight.”
