As noted earlier today, the Nevada State Athletic Commission handed down a $50,000 fine and 40 hours of mandatory community service to UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones for his part in creating the brawl with Daniel Cormier at the UFC 178 Media Day event in Las Vegas, Nevada in August.
Later in the day, Cormier faced the commission and was also fined. D.C. will be forced to pay a fine of $9,000 for his part in the altercation and will also have to do 20 hours of community service.
The main reason Jones was punished more severely than Cormier was basically because “Bones” threw punches and was believed to have instigated the skirmish due to the fact that he pushed his head against Cormier’s, which was believed to have started the brawl.
Jones and Cormier are scheduled to meet inside the Octagon for “Bones'” Light Heavyweight Championship at the UFC 182 on January 3, 2015.
