It was reported on this week’s edition of UFC Tonight on FOX Sports 1 that talks between Gina Carano and UFC executives are “doing a lot better” than they were initially, with Ariel Helwani reporting during the broadcast that a finalized deal between the two sides is “getting close.”
If Carano signs, UFC President Dana White strongly indicated during a recent media scrum that she would likely step directly into a title shot against UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey, with White announcing December as a potential time frame.
Also reported on UFC Tonight this week was the news that sixth-ranked UFC Women’s Bantamweight contender Jessica Eye (10-2, 1 NC) has volunteered to be the first opponent for the newly signed Holly Holm. Holm (7-0) is a highly regarded former world-ranked boxing champion that recently signed a deal to fight for UFC.
