Nick Diaz told members of the MMA media that he would entertain the idea of a rematch with Georges St-Pierre if the former UFC Welterweight Champion ever decides to return to the sport.
After UFC’s “The Time Is Now” press conference (which you can watch in full here), Diaz spoke about the only issues he has in potentially fighting GSP once more.
“Sure, if I do well, and he comes back in the sport, sure,” Diaz said of a GSP rematch. “Why not? I see myself having a better run, too. Maybe just not being in Canada where you can just be on steroids.”
Diaz, who has tested positive for marijuana twice by the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) in the past, said if he had been drug-tested for the GSP fight in Montreal in March of 2013, he may have tested positive a third time.
“They didn’t drug test me for that fight,” Diaz said. “I probably would have tested positive. They didn’t test me. They don’t drug test in Canada.”
As exciting as a potential rematch with GSP is, Diaz must first get past his next test, which comes in the form of MMA legend Anderson Silva, as the two are scheduled to headline UFC 183 on January 31, 2015 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
