Former UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar made history on Saturday night in Austin, Texas, submitting the number two-ranked UFC Featherweight contender Cub Swanson with just seconds remaining in their five-round thriller.
Edgar had “The Answer” for Swanson’s style from the opening bell, making it clear from the get-go that any hopes Swanson had of securing the next UFC Featherweight Championship bout with Jose Aldo were never going to come to fruition.
After battering and bloodying Swanson for five-straight rounds in a truly dominant performance, Edgar capped off the bout by securing a rear naked choke with only four seconds left in the fight.
The official ruling of the bout was Edgar over Swanson by way of rear-naked-choke submission victory at 4:56 of the fifth and final round of the UFC Fight Night 57 main event, which took place at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas.
