Israel Adesanya is on a mission to defend his title and it doesn’t matter who he takes on in the process.
Israel Adesanya has been a force to reckon with since he came to the UFC and particularly since gaining the title of “middleweight champion.” A week after his 32nd birthday, Adesanya took to Twitter to issue a warning to all possible challengers. In this post, Adesanya declares that he is better than ever and warns his peers to watch out.
“PSA: Middleweights…you’re fu—ed,” Adesanya wrote. “Another metamorphosis happened on my 32nd trip around the sun. Bottom line, it has come to my attn that Imma need to #applypressure on everything. But yea, all you c—ts at 185 get better or get better excuses. Have a good day!”
Adesanya is coming off his third title defense when he took down Marvin Vettori in June at UFC 263. Adesanya went the entire distance in the fight and secured the unanimous decision. Prior to this win, he took a chance on himself and made the jump to light heavyweight, where he was stopped by champion Jan Blachowicz.
Who’s Next For The Champ?
Now back where he belongs at middleweight, it seems Adesanya is putting in more work and ready to return to the Octagon, but who will be next for the 185 king? Among the top-ranked are Robert Whittaker, Paulo Costa, and Jared Cannonier. Of that group, Whittaker is the only one coming off a win. In fact, he is riding a three-fight winning streak and makes the most sense as the next contender.
Whittaker’s only loss in the last seven years has been to Adesanya when he lost his title. Although Whittaker may not be in a hurry to fight again, perhaps we could see these two run it back by the end of the year.
Who do you think Israel Adesanya takes on next?
