Jennifer Maia vs. Jessica Eye Targeted For July 10

A battle of former flyweight title challengers will take place on July 10 as Jennifer Maia will face Jessica Eye.

MMAFighting was first to report the news of the booking of the yet-to-be announced UFC card, yet it is expected to be UFC 264. The location of the event hasn’t been announced either.

Jennifer Maia (18-7-1) is coming off a decision loss to Valentina Shevchenko at UFC 255 for the flyweight title. In the fight before, she submitted Joanne Calderwood in the first round to earn the title shot to return to the win column after losing to Katlyn Chookagian. The Brazilian is also the former Invicta FC flyweight champion and is 3-3 in the UFC and ranked fourth at flyweight.

Jessica Eye (15-9 and one no-contest) is coming off back-to-back decision losses to Calderwood at UFC 257 and Cynthia Calvillo in the main event of a Fight Night card in June. Before that, she beat Vivane Araujo to return to the win column after suffering a brutal head kick KO to Shevchenko at UFC 238 for the flyweight title. In the UFC, she is 5-8 and one no-contest but is 4-3 since dropping down to flyweight.

This is a crucial fight for both Maia and Eye who are looking to return to the win column. Although they are both in the top-10, it could be do-or-die for Eye’s UFC career, as it would be her third loss in a row.

Who do you think will win, Jennifer Maia or Jessica Eye?
