Johnny Walker shook up the light heavyweight division with his 15-second knockout win over Justin Ledet at UFC on ESPN+ 2. The Brazilian soon after called out Jimi Manuwa for a UFC London showdown. However, Manuwa is currently nursing an injury and seems to have no interest in fighting the No. 15-ranked Walker. Now, Walker is attempting to jump on another opportunity.
Ovince Saint Preux was recently injured and forced to pull out of his UFC 235 fight against Misha Cirkunov. Now, Walker would like the opportunity to step in and face Cirkunov, on what could be the biggest card of the year in March. He posted the following on Instagram, proposing the match-up:
“Hey @mishac911 , I heard you need a new opponent for UFC 235? I might know someone… @ufc@danawhite I am waiting for the call”
UFC 235 goes down live on pay-per-view (PPV) from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on March 2, 2019. In the headliner, UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones defends his title. He’ll face off against Anthony “Lionheart” Smith in his first title defense since 2015. Also, welterweight king Tyron Woodley will defend his crown yet again. “T-Wood” finds himself matched-up against Kamaru Usman in the co-main event.
Perhaps Walker, one of the UFC’s most promising 205-pound prospects, could find his way onto the card as well.
Do you think Walker should be allowed to step in and face Cirkunov at UFC 235?
