Jon Jones Explains Deleted Tweet, Ranks Top Five Contenders At 205 Pounds

After Jon Jones riled fans up by tweeting his reaction to Alexander Gustafsson’s loss to Anthony Johnson only to quickly delete the post moments later, the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion has since explained himself.

Jones claims he made the comment, which read, “Not impressed, Alex,” as a receipt to Gustafsson, who posted a similar comment after Jones’ decision victory over Daniel Cormier at UFC 182.

“It’s exactly what he did to me after my [Daniel Cormier] fight,” said Jones.

Immediately after Jones defeated Cormier to retain the UFC 205-pound title on January 3rd, Gustafsson wrote on Facebook, “I am not impressed by your performance,” likely as an homage to the infamous words uttered by former UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St-Pierre, who made the same remark to Matt Hughes several years ago.

Gustafsson, however, made the comment after a Jones victory and never doubled back to delete the post, whereas Jones made the remark after Gustafsson lost in his home country, and quickly changed his mind and deleted the post.

Jones also took to Twitter recently to reveal who he feels are the top five fighters in his division.

“Bones” Jones ranked himself number one, “Rumble” Johnson number two, Rashad Evans number three, Cormier number four and Gustafsson number five.

Jones’ next title defense will come against Johnson, the man who following his victory over Gustafsson on Saturday moved into the number one spot in the official UFC 205-pound rankings, later this year. As of right now, there is no official or rumored date or location for the fight.
