UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo suffered an injury while training for his scheduled title defense against Chad Mendes at next month’s UFC 176 and will not be able to compete on the show.
The news was first reported by Ariel Helwani on Wedneday’s edition of UFC Tonight on FOX Sports 1 and was later confirmed by UFC President Dana White. No word yet on what the new main event will be on August 2nd.
After suffering a first-round knockout loss to Aldo back in 2012, Mendes earned his title shot with five straight wins.
