As previously reported, undefeated UFC Lightweight contender Khabib Nurmagomedov suffered a leg injury that forced him out of his scheduled match in September with Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone.
The severity of the injury was not exactly clear until Tuesday afternoon, when Nurmagomedov’s manager, Mike Constantino, confirmed to MMA media outlets that his fighter had suffered a torn meniscus in his right knee, an injury that will require surgery and force the number four ranked Lightweight to remain inactive until January.
Nurmagomedov, 22-0 (6-0 in the UFC) suffered the injury a mere 30 minutes after the match with Cerrone was signed and made official. As of right now, there is no word as to who Cerrone’s new opponent will be.
