Following his loss to Patrick Cummins and subsequent retirement at the recent UFC On FOX 12 event, UFC veteran Kyle Kingsbury spoke about his final Octagon appearance.
“This was for me. This fight was for me,” said Kingsbury. “I wanted to see if I could go in there with a clear head and perform. In terms of what I was shooting for from a mental standpoint and an emotional standpoint, I definitely got what I was looking for, and on the biggest stage.”
Despite giving it his all, Kingsbury dropped a very lopsided decision to the UFC newcomer, but said he loved every second of it.
“I loved every second of it, but I’m happy to move on,” said Kingsbury. “I don’t want to be that guy who’s 40 years old and that’s all he’s got. There’s more to life than fighting, at least for me.”
