Lee Mein, father of UFC fighter Jordan Mein, was arrested on charges of sexual battery on Friday, according to a police report.
Mein, 47, was scheduled to corner his son, Jordan Mein, in his co-main event bout against Mike Pyle at UFC Fight Night 49 on Saturday evening. UFC has announced that due to his arrest, Mein will no longer be in his son’s corner during the event.
Mein was arrested on Friday just prior to the official UFC Fight Night 49 weigh-ins in Tulsa, Oklahoma. According to the aforementioned police report, Mein was released early Saturday morning on $2,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on August 29th.
UFC released the following statement regarding this matter:
“We were made aware that James Lee Mein, father of UFC competitor Jordan Mein, was arrested yesterday on allegations of felony sexual assault. Mr. Mein is accused of sexually assaulting a housekeeper at the UFC’s host hotel in Tulsa, Okla.
The UFC finds the allegations against Mr. Mein deplorable and we fully support local law enforcement in its investigation. The UFC is also prohibiting Mr. Mein from attending tonight’s event should he post bail.
Jordan Mein will remain on tonight’s card.”
UFC Fight Night 49 takes place at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Saturday, August 23, 2014.
