Lorenzo Fertitta: Ronda Rousey “Plotting Her Comeback,” Says “Nothing Can Stop Her”

While many fans have written her off after her devastating one-sided knockout loss to Holly Holm, UFC’s C.E.O. believes Ronda Rousey will not only fight again, but insists she is already “plotting her comeback.”

Lorenzo Fertitta spoke with The Sporting News earlier this week and discussed his recent meeting with the former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion.

“I went out to see her in L.A.,” Fertitta told Sporting News. “[I] had some real good conversations with her. She is, as you would expect, very disappointed. Distraught, to some extent. She’s never lost. She never lost a fight in the Octagon. She never lost a fight in the street. She didn’t know what it was like. Right? … She is champing to be back in there. She made some commitments before the fight to make two movies. So she’s going to do that. Then get back to training in the Octagon.”

Rousey is currently scheduled to film the remake of the cult-classic 1980s film “Roadhouse,” and will also film Peter Berg’s “Mile 22,” co-starring Mark Wahlberg in early 2016, but after that, Fertitta insists she will be back in the gym working exclusively on her Octagon return.

“She has options,” said Fertitta. “But let me tell you what. Ronda is the single most competitive person I’ve ever met in my life. If you don’t think she isn’t ready right now … She’s plotting her comeback. I don’t think anything can stop her from coming back.”

As far as Rousey-Holm II is concerned, the UFC C.E.O. isn’t shy in sharing his belief that it will be the single biggest fight in UFC history.

“I think it will be the biggest fight in UFC history,” said Fertitta. “We certainly believe that as a company. I think the world will be interested in a rematch because it was a huge upset. So many people thought Ronda was just completely invincible. To see her get beat like that was a shock. They want to see if she can come back.”
