Lorenzo Fertitta Says UFC Ignored Dennis Siver Purposely To “Piss Off Fans”

During the build-up to this Sunday’s UFC Fight Night 59 event, the focus has been almost entirely on “The Notorious” Conor McGregor, and according to UFC C.E.O. Lorenzo Fertitta, this was a move done by design to “piss off the fans.”

Starting with the television commercials, the one-sided interview with McGregor at the recent UFC 182 pay-per-view, as well as most of the media coverage leading up to the event, Siver has practically been non-existant.

“It was a teaser,” Fertitta told MMAJunkie.com of UFC’s decision to focus soley on McGregor during the build-up to this Sunday’s event on FOX Sports 1.

Fertitta claims, however, that as the fight approaches this weekend, Siver’s side of the story will start to be shown.

“When you start to see the promos this week, it will all be about the fight, Dennis Siver and what he’s accomplished,” said Fertitta.

Fertitta continued, explaining that this was all done to “piss off” and “rile up” the fans, an approach that the UFC executive feels has worked perfectly.

“It was kind of just a taste, and also we just wanted to get you guys pissed off and riled up.” said Fertitta. “I think it’s worked well. It’s got people talking.”

McGregor vs. Siver headlines UFC Fight Night 59, which takes place at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachussets this Sunday, January 18th, airing live and free on FOX Sports 1.
