Mark Hunt Happy About Fighting Out UFC Contract This Weekend

Mark Hunt has been a staple in the UFC’s heavyweight division since 2010. Hunt has put on some of the best fights in the division’s history. He has also provided fight fans with some memorable walk-off signature knockouts over the years. In his near-nine-year stint with the UFC, Hunt has seen and done it all.

Having shared the Octagon with some of the greatest heavyweights of all time, Hunt has even competed for a heavyweight title. Currently, Hunt is on a two-fight losing streak. He suffered a unanimous decision loss to Curtis Blaydes in February at UFC 221. Then, he was submitted by Alexey Oleynik in Russia this past September.

Now, Hunt heads into the final fight on his current UFC deal in Australia this weekend (Sat. December 1, 2018). He’ll co-headline the show against the American Kickboxing Academy’s Justin Willis. Hunt has had quite a bit of issues with the UFC in recent years.

He has grown tired of sharing the cage with fighters who have a history of failing drug tests. Hunt is also suing the UFC over his fight with Brock Lesnar, which he lost in 2016, however, Lesnar tested positive for a banned substance after. With his contract with the promotion coming up, Hunt tells MMA Junkie he’s happy to go out with his Aussie boys Tai Tuivasa and Tyson Pedro on the same card:

“It’s my last one, so I’m happy about that,” Hunt said. “I’m glad that the UFC has allowed me to do this. It’s great, so now I get to share the stage with Tai and Tyson again and all the Aussie boys, which is great.”
