As Georges St-Pierre returns to the Tristar Gym following a second knee surgery, an experience he called humiliating, by the way, the contenders are already lining up to get a crack at the former UFC Welterweight king. Among them, “The Immortal” Matt Brown.
Brown told FOX Sports that he feels he’s in the right position to get a shot at the former champ, as he believes GSP won’t receive an immediate title shot upon his return.
Brown stated the following:
“That’s a huge, huge fight. I’d love to have that fight. I always thought I matched up well with him. I think I am in the right position for it. I’m not the champion, he’s not going to come back and get the championship fight right off the bat. I’m in the right position. I can look at it objectively on paper and see that he would be the favorite. I would hope that it would be a five rounder. I would love to do it. I’ve always wanted to fight Georges.”
Maybe he’s not aware of it, but Brown should check out this article, as UFC President Dana White did guarantee GSP an immediate title shot if he chooses to return to the Octagon.
While “Rush” doesn’t seem to be in a rush to make a UFC return, he did meet with White and UFC co-owner Lorenzo Fertitta in Montreal recently.
