Sometimes Conor McGregor is “notorious” for saying things at the most opportune of times, and the rising Irish contender made no exceptions when breaking his silence regarding the controversy surrounding the status of his upcoming UFC 189 title fight against UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo.
Shortly after the news was broken on this week’s edition of UFC Tonight that pending medical approval, the Aldo-McGregor title bout would go on as scheduled on July 11th in Las Vegas, Nevada, it didn’t take “The Notorious” one long to take the first verbal shot at his next Octagon opponent.
When hearing that Aldo has every intention of taking the fight on the date that it is scheduled, despite suffering from serious rib injuries, McGregor decided to call the UFC Featherweight Champion’s manhood into question.
“It turned out he just had a little period pain,” wrote McGregor in typical brash, unapologetic fashion.
For now, Jose Aldo is still scheduled to defend his UFC 145-pound championship against Conor McGregor in the main event of UFC 189 on Saturday, July 11, 2015 inside Las Vegas, Nevada’s MGM Grand Garden Arena. However, if Aldo is unable to compete for whatever reason, UFC President Dana White announced on Wednesday that top-ranked UFC Featherweight contender Chad Mendes would step up to fight McGregor for what would be an interim UFC Featherweight title.
