While Conor McGregor vs. Rafael dos Anjos is heavily rumored for UFC 197, the UFC still has yet to officially announce it for the event in March. Conor McGregor’s striking coach Owen Roddy recently revealed that McGregor will in fact be fighting at UFC 197, although his opponent is still up in the air. McGregor demanding more money is reportedly the reason for the delay in UFC making an official announcement.
Here’s what Roddy had to say:
“All I know just from listening to Conor is that he is fighting March 5,” Roddy said on The MMA Hour. “The opponent is up in the air. It could be dos Anjos. It could be whoever. But the thing is Conor is looking to fight March 5. Realistically, everybody wants to see Conor, so the opponent is not really important. I’m sure he’ll be fighting March 5. So stay tuned.”
UFC 197 is scheduled for Saturday, March 5, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada. We’ll keep you posted with the latest news and announcements about UFC 197 right here on MMANews.com.
