Legendary head-kick artist Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic has re-signed with the UFC, marking his return to active MMA competition at age 40.
Cro Cop was rumored to be negotiating with Bellator MMA executives as recently as last week, however UFC apparently beat them to the punch, as UFC President Dana White recently confirmed the signing of Filipovic.
Following legendary runs in PRIDE and K-1 in Japan, Cro Cop fought for the UFC from 2007 to 2011, going 4-6 inside the world-famous Octagon, and losing his last three fights with the promotion.
Having since competed — and winning — the K-1 Grand Prix in 2012, as well as a 1-1 run in the Glory kickboxing promotion, Cro Cop most recently fought in MMA in Japan, defeating Satoshi Ishii via TKO back on December 31st.
