Nick Diaz’s Trainer: “Fight With Anderson Silva Should Be Overturned”

Nick Diaz’s trainer, Cesar Gracie, is calling for the ruling of last Saturday’s UFC 183 fight with Anderson Silva to be overturned as a result of “The Spider” testing positive for two performance-enhancing drugs.

Gracie told celebrity-gossip website TMZ.com, “In my opinion it needs to be overturned because you got a guy on performance enhancing drugs.”

Gracie elaborated, pointing out the fact that he understands why at age 39, Silva would take PEDs, but that if he needs them to compete, he probably shouldn’t be fighting anymore.

“I get it. Silva is getting up there in age (he’s 39) but if you need steroids to fight you shouldn’t be fighting,” said Gracie.

While Diaz popped hot on his drug test as well, Gracie noted that Diaz tested positive for marijuana, which he argues is not a performance-enhancing drug.

“Anyone with half a brain would know weed is not a performance enhancing drug,” said Gracie. “They make them take a test before they even license him to fight in Nevada.”

Gracie also stated that he feels Silva testing positive in his fight with Diaz now puts a giant question mark on the rest of his career.

“[The positive test] defiantly tarnishes his legacy because people are going to look at his other fights and question if he was using steroids then too,” Gracie concluded.
